Def. del Termcat: Microespècie amb caràcters morfològics constants, els descendents de la qual constitueixen una població homogènia.
Nota: L'ús en botànica del terme espècie jordaniana en oposició a espècie linneana té com a base el concepte mateix d'espècie. Així, espècie linneana és una espècie en un sentit ampli i pot incloure diverses races infraespecífiques, les quals es consideren espècies jordanianes.
